We the People of Illinois is a FREE traveling interactive digital exhibit that uses storytelling as the vehicle to explore Illinois history through the lens of community, intolerance, and rights. Developed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museums of Tolerance, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Rights, this exhibit is grounded in the belief that the pursuit of human rights is an ongoing and collective effort exemplified by the exhibit’s key historical moments.
We the People IL visits public spaces across Illinois, including libraries, museums, government buildings, office spaces, and more.
The two-panel exhibit covers Illinois history from 1885 to 2013. Part one explores historical injustices, while part two highlights the modern fight for equal rights.
The traveling exhibit is suitable for the whole family. Touchscreen navigation and weighted bases support safe interaction for all ages with adult supervision.
Hosts need a supervised, stable 6 × 6 space, reliable access to power, and a place to store the kiosk cases. MMOT staff handle delivery, setup, and takedown.
